Hello, I’m Frankie Adamson ABIPP & FBIPP, ASINWP & FSWPP a multi award-winning animal photographer endorsed by The British Institute of Professional Photography (The BIPP) and The Society of Photographers, based in Brampton, Cumbria. I love the outdoors, and I'm most likely the person found hanging out with the dog at your party. My work is all about capturing the essence and personality of your beloved companion and transforming those moments into stunning artwork for your home: pieces that will raise a smile every time you walk into the room.

Why Animal Photography?

I’ve been an animal lover since I was a child, but only became a dog owner later in my life when I adopted Indy, a 5-year-old Shetland Sheepdog.

Indy's old collar and pawprint - memories of a dog Frankie Adamson lost too soon.

Timid, gentle, and overweight for her small size, I spent a lot of time building up her confidence and her tolerance for exercise. I wasn’t even sure if she’d been on a ‘proper’ dog walk before.

We just connected, and she became my little shadow following me everywhere. Devastatingly, my time with Indy was even shorter than most dog-owner relationships as the vet found suspicious lumps in her throat less than two years later that would soon be diagnosed as aggressive lymphoma.

If she was only 5 when I adopted her then she only lived to see the age of 7 - to say this was a heartbreaking injustice is a massive understatement.

“I was to taste in little the grief
That comes of dogs’ lives being so brief,
Only a fraction of ours at most.
He might have been the dream of a ghost”
-
Robert Frost: ‘One More Brevity’

I look back at the tiny number of phone photos I have of her and while they bring with them a whole raft of positive emotions, I regret deeply that I didn’t have the skills at the time to create something special that I could proudly display at home to this day.

Instead, my memories of Indy directly influenced my drive to learn the art of photography. I take as many pictures as possible of my dogs now, have them printed and hung on the walls of my own home, and I have her to thank for lighting the fire I needed for me to do this for other dog owners.

I’d love to now to help you craft timeless images of your pet which will stay with you for their lifetime and beyond, proudly on display for many years to come.

Ma Raison D'Être

Scout is a working border collie as Scottish as they come, born and bred in Biggar, smarter than most humans and has the inner monologue to prove it. She is a sensitive soul, preferring to sleep underneath a soft sofa to on top of it, will stare into your soul unwaveringly until you get off your behind and give her a job, and is one of the best dog models I could ever hope for. She works for the fun of it, gets excited at a paper backdrop being rolled out and will find her own place to pose if you go anywhere near a wooded area or lakeside with camera in hand. She is everything.

My domesticated animal and wildlife images have also received international recognition in multiple competitions, scoring Gold, Silver and Bronzes from The Guild of Photographers, and winning International Titles with The Society of Photographers and The BIPP.

In early 2025, I was awarded ‘Overall Photographer of the Year 2024’ and ‘Natural World - Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2024’ by The Society of Photographers for my image ‘Kiss of Death’ (pictured left), and finished 5th place in the Natural World Category in the World Photographic Cup 2025.

In 2025, I took home the ‘Overall Photographer of the Year 2025’ and ‘Domestic Animal Photographer of the Year’ titles in The BIPP’s Annual Awards and won ‘Image of the Year: Natural World’ and runner-up ‘Image of the Year: Pets’ with the Guild of Photographers. I also achieved 5 images in the Top 100 of the International Pet Photography Awards, all finalists (pictured below).

I am so immensely proud that as of September 2025, I am now a double Fellowship holder with two different photographic organisations: Natural World with The BIPP and, most recently, Pet Portraiture with The Society of Photographers, the highest level of qualifications achievable by a photographer in these organisations.

What it means to be a Fellowship holder with The BIPP:

A client can have, without a shadow of a doubt, the knowledge that this photographer is at the top of their game.

What’s Next?

I am so stoked to be settled in Cumbria, where my photography journey all began back in 2020 when I’d take my old Nikon crop sensor out on dog walks every morning.

In 2025, I launched my very first client sessions in the north of England both in the city and in various stunning natural locations in Cumbria: we really are spoiled for choice. Whether you’re in the heart of a city or exploring Cumbria’s scenic landscapes, I can’t wait to capture the bond between you and your dog in the most beautiful way.

We blinked and suddenly it’s 2026 and I’m growing the business even more to now include equine sessions in Cumbria and beyond. Whether you have a horse, dog, or any companion animal, I can help you celebrate your bond through the art of photography.

Go here to discover for more details on how you can book your own portrait session and create personalised pieces of wall art that are as unique and special as your beloved companion.
