A Dog Photography Adventure in York Pt. 2
Welcome to Day 2 of my York dog photography adventure! This time, I had the pleasure of photographing two stunning large breeds: Bea the Standard Poodle and Doogle the Old English Sheepdog in the heart of this historic city. With their envious coats and striking presence, they brought a whole new dynamic to my urban dog photography sessions. I’ll be sharing insights into location scouting in York, the challenges of winter light and a spot of rain, and sharing the final images themselves. I’ll also be returning to York in a few weeks for my dog photography calendar project, and after all of these sessions, I know this city will continue to draw me back for more incredible canine portraits.

On the first day of my two-day dog photography portrait sessions in January, I had the chance to photograph four incredible dog models, each with their own personality, quirks, and charm, against this breathtaking urban setting. A Night to Remember: Frankie Adamson Overall Photographer of the Year 2024
Last week on Friday January 17th at The Societies of Photographers Awards, I was honoured to win not only The Natural World - Wild Animals Photographer of the Year 2024 and, to my utter disbelief, Overall Photographer of the Year 2024. In the entire 2024 monthly competition there were 6,481 submissions across 28 categories and ‘Kiss of Death’ came out on top. Mindblowing.

Angels of the North is a creative dog photography project celebrating the spirit of northern England through powerful, artistic portraits of dogs in 12 cities over the next six months. I’ll be photographing 60 dogs in striking locations filled with character—think weathered brick, steel, and historic architecture that reflects the unique heritage of each city.
2024 Awards Recap: Success with The BIPP, The Societies and the World Photographic Cup
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I think it’s potentially a dangerous thing to set goals related to winning things, as I never want my self-worth to be tied to the potential to win (or more likely not win) a trophy.
