Group dog walks around Cumbria and South West Scotland, photographing your dog along the way.
Portrait Walks with Frankie
What happens on these walks?
Portrait Walks with Frankie is once-a-month small group dog walk featuring photography by Frankie for up to three dogs and their humans in Cumbria or South West Scotland.
Each month’s portrait walk is a different location, and across the route Frankie will photograph each dog in various spots along the way (on their own and/or with their humans).
Meet other dogs and dog owners, explore somewhere beautiful, and have your dog socialise in a safe, structured and stimulating way.
This Month’s Portrait Walk
26th June 2026 meeting at 5:30pm
Quarry Beck Woods & Lanercost
A there-and-back woodland walk coupled with a riverside stroll around Lanercost. The route starts with a short uphill walk alongside the road, nothing strenuous, before the woods take over and it gets properly beautiful. You'll pass a working stonemason's yard on the way in and then it's quiet woodland paths, dappled light and beautiful woodland. We’ll end with a loop around Lanercost Priory itself back to the cars.
Livestock: not in the woodland, some sheep in fields near the priory.
Open water: beck running through the woods alongside the path, River Irthing through Lanercost itself.
Free car parking at Lanercost Old Bridge.

The Need-To-Know Bits Before You Book
-
Portrait Walks with Frankie is designed for dogs who are comfortable and relaxed around other dogs.
If your dog isn’t sure about others, that’s absolutely fine but Frankie would recommend a private portrait session in order to give them the space and time they need to get the very best from them.
All dogs remain on lead throughout. -
A maximum of three. Frankie wants to keep the numbers low to keep things manageable and calm. Please note, these walks are for single dog households only (or just one dog from your household), if you want to bring more than one dog then please get in touch about a private portrait experience.
-
Yes, up to two people are welcome per dog. The booking and the £55 is per dog, not per person, so no need to argue about who gets to come!
-
Unless there is a danger posed to the dogs, Portrait Walks goes ahead in most weather. A bit of drizzle is nothing we can't handle - I always say this is Cumbria, not the Costa del Sol!
However, of course in the event of dangerous conditions such as storms, high winds or extreme heat etc., the walk will be cancelled and your participation fee becomes credit redeemable against any future Portrait Walk or Photography by Frankie portrait session, valid for six months from your original booking date. -
Bookings are non-refundable; however, I understand that life can often throw us curveballs. Cancel more than two weeks before the walk and your fee can be redeemed once against a place on a future walk, or as credit toward a private portrait session booked within three months of the original walk date. Cancellations made within 10 days of the walk are non-transferable.
“Frankie was absolutely incredible! She made the experience very enjoyable and her photographs are amazing. Would recommend her to anyone! My dog is a large working breed dog who was only a puppy at the time so she had lots of energy. Frankie worked with her very well and was so accommodating. She made it such a calm and natural shoot!”
